A specialized extrusion process for making drip-irrigation tubing without injection molded components has been developed by our company.
The system extrudes a thin embossed tape and inserts it into a small irrigation tube via a crosshead die. The tube and tape are made of the same HDPE. The tape is embossed with a zigzag or labyrinth pattern that precisely controls water output. Embossing is done by a 1-meter-diam., water-cooled wheel with changeable inserts to create different water-output rates. The continuous tape is 0.2 to 0.4 mm thick and 4 to 5 mm wide and is welded into the tube by residual heat of extrusion. This all-extruded drip tubing replaces drip tubing made with injection molded "drippers" inserted in a crosshead die. |
